Liposuction Recovery Los Angeles

Recovery after liposuction in Los Angeles depends on how much of an area is treated and how much fat is removed.

All liposuction procedures produce some degree of trauma; however, when liposuction is performed using local anesthesia and small, efficient suction cannulas, the amount of trauma is minimized.

Local anesthesia helps by expanding the compartment of fat to be suctioned making it easier to target and by providing long lasting pain control. The local anesthesia helps keep the area treated partially numb for up to 18 hours after liposuction is completed.

Small cannulas induce less trauma because they are smaller and glide through tissue as opposed to ripping through it. The less the tissue is torn, the less there is to heal.

After liposuction using local anesthesia and small cannulas which are less than 3 millimeters, there is often only minimal bruising. Some areas like the arms and hips hardly bruise at all. In my experience, the thighs tend to bruise the most. Laser liposuction may also reduce the amount of bruising according to one published medical article. However, this benefit must be weighed against the potential downsides of laser liposuction which include a small risk of burning and the extra cost.
